Wes Cogdill’s connection to amateur sports began in his hometown and extended across the
United States and internationally, shaping both his personal values and professional career. As
a four-year scholarship baseball player at Gardner-Webb University, Wes experienced firsthand
how athletics teach discipline, resilience, teamwork, and leadership—lessons that continue to
guide how he serves and leads today.
Wes currently serves as Associate Athletics Director of Development and Catamount Club
Director at Western Carolina University, where he leads fundraising and donor engagement
efforts in support of Division I athletics and student-athletes. With more than a decade of
experience in nonprofit development and athletics administration, he has worked closely with
coaches, donors, corporate partners, and leadership teams to grow resources responsibly and
sustainably. His approach centers on stewardship, collaboration, and long-term impact.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Relations with a minor in Marketing from Gardner-
Webb University and completed his Master of Business Administration at Gardner-Webb
University, with a focus on strategic planning and financial management. A husband and father,
Wes believes deeply in the power of athletics to positively shape young people on and off the
field or court. He is honored to serve organizations like the NAFBF that create meaningful
opportunities for players and families through athletics.
